What Is a Persian Carpet?
Persian carpets come from the weaving traditions of Persia (today's Iran), famous for cities such as Tabriz, Kashan, Isfahan and Qom. Traditional Persian rugs are hand-knotted, and their designs, with central medallions, floral fields and layered borders, are copied and admired around the world.
Today, the word "Persian" is also used for Persian-design carpets: rugs that use these classic patterns but are made in other places and by other methods. Our Persian collection is made this way, giving you the traditional look at an everyday price.
Medallion or Floral: The Two Main Designs

Caring for Your Persian Carpet
- Vacuum once or twice a week to lift dust from the pile.
- Blot spills straight away with a clean, dry cloth; don't rub.
- Rotate the carpet every few months so it wears and fades evenly.
- Keep it out of strong, direct sunlight for long hours.
- Acrylic silk carpets can be washed; for polyester carpets, spot-clean with mild detergent in cold water.
