Janamaz Carpet for Masjid: How to Choose Size, Material and Colour (2026 Guide)

A good Janamaz carpet keeps a prayer space clean, comfortable and orderly. For a masjid or prayer hall, the right choice depends on the material, the design, the colour and, most of all, the size.

Carpet Emporio makes Janamaz prayer mat carpets in polypropylene, with a mihrab design and fade-resistant colours. They come 4 ft wide, in lengths from 10 ft to 100 ft. This guide helps you choose the right one.

What Is a Janamaz Carpet?

A Janamaz carpet is a prayer mat carpet used for Salah. Long rolls, like ours, are used in masjids and prayer halls so that a whole row can sit on one continuous piece. They are also used at home.

Why Polypropylene?

• Light and easy to handle. Polypropylene is a light synthetic fibre, so a long roll is easier to carry and lay.
• Easy to keep clean. It is an easy-care fibre that you can sweep or vacuum regularly.
• Fade-resistant colours. Our colours are fade resistant, which matters in a prayer hall that gets sunlight.
• Mihrab design. The mihrab design helps keep rows lined up in the direction of prayer.

How to Choose the Size

• Width: our Janamaz carpets are 4 ft wide.
• Length: choose from 24 options between 10 ft and 100 ft. Measure the length of your row or hall, and choose the closest length.
• Bigger halls: for a large hall, use several rolls side by side. Send us the hall's length and width on WhatsApp and we will suggest a layout.
• Not listed? Ask us for another length or width. See our custom orders page.

How to Choose the Colour

Darker shades (brown, grey, blue) hide footmarks well. Lighter shades make a hall look bright, but show dust sooner. We have 12 colours, so pick one that suits your walls and flooring.
